Hello and welcome to Sensemillier, formerly known as Urbanistic.
We’re thrilled to introduce you to our new brand and would love to tell you more about what has led us to this rebrand of our company.
The End of an Era

Our Chief Integrating Officer, Francis, founded Urbanistic back in 2016 when he still lived in London, UK. Cannabis was still very much illegal in the UK back then (it still largely is, although there is now medical access, which is slowly gaining momentum). With limited options for pursuing something ‘legal’ and related to Cannabis, Francis decided to start searching for innovative consumption devices such as dry herb vaporizers, while taking this opportunity to start learning more about the cannabis plant from both a cultivation and medical context.
Then, in 2021, Francis connected with me, Tom, to create a YouTube Video in which I successfully assessed three blind samples by matching them to their price categories. So, coincidentally enough, our first encounter already started with blind sampling and product evaluation. Shortly after that, I left my corporate job as the lead educator of a cannabis chain to pursue my vision of creating relevant cannabis education and a digital cannabis evaluation standard.
As I dove into being a self-employed cannabis entrepreneur, I realized how challenging and nearly impossible it is to create an entire business by yourself. So, as I was struggling with my workload and resources, I reached out to Francis, who, at that time, was almost ready to give up on Urbanistic as he no longer felt compelled to continue selling and testing various dry herb vaporizers and instead wanted to work on something more meaningful and rebellious to shape the existing landscape of the Canadian Cannabis industry. Not long after our initial conversations about our frustrations around the cannabis industry and the difficulties of our pursuits, we decided to order our first digital desktop microscope and tested it out together while reminiscing about the potential to combine my vision for a global cannabis evaluation standard with Francis’s expertise in running a successful business.
On that day, we decided to pursue our dream of revolutionizing the global cannabis industry through education and digital tools together by making Urbanistic our joint venture.
Over the past three years, this has allowed us to fully transform Urbanistic from a company focused on dry herb vape hardware into a pioneering international cannabis education company that has trained dozens of budtenders in Canada and supported various cannabis competitions, as well as some of the best cannabis companies in Canada and Germany.
However, throughout this time, Urbanistic had to change a lot. As time passed and the opportunities and the impact we have on this industry became more evident and abundant, we realized that Urbanistic as a brand doesn’t quite encapsulate who we are anymore, what we’re doing, and where our path is taking us.
A new path & vision for the cannabis industry

All growth aside, Francis and I have been in the Canadian Cannabis Industry for about 6 years now, and what started as an exciting, novel professional experience turned into a trodden path filled with piles of roaches, plastic containers, greened-out consumers, bankrupt businesses and dissatisfied growers and store owners.
Needless to say, what we’ve seen, experienced, and continue to experience within this industry is far from the field of flowers and open minds we hoped for.
To us, it often feels like legalization took the most magical plant in the world, put it on steroids and turned it into a commodity while discouraging budtenders and producers to properly educate consumers about it.
And while there are a lot of valid fingers that can be pointed at the regulators, we think that there’s also room to point some fingers at ourselves as an industry because we as an industry also have a part to play when it comes to the current lack of education, product knowledge and adequate sampling processes.
I feel like instead of turning that finger around, a lot of fellow industry professionals are continually disappearing in a cloud of smoke and dissociative conversations about the same repeating topics like excise taxes, edible limits, and compliance, which are undoubtedly important topics, but try listening to the same rants on panel conversation for the past 6 years and let me know how that inspires you or changes anything about the current state of the industry.
Please don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to downplay or discredit any of these very important topics and encourage to keep hammering at the regulators’ doors about these issues.
Still, what I’d like to propose is that there’s an excellent opportunity to not only speak about certain problems but also take concrete action to fix specific industry problems ourselves, especially the issues of THC inflation, lack of product knowledge, and inadequate sampling processes.
That being said, our vision moving forward with our brand, Sensemillier is to create the pathway and support that is needed to fix these problems collectively so that:
- Consumers can finally choose from a wider variety of products, shop for specific product qualities, and buy joints that don’t give them an instant panic attack.
- Budtenders feel confident and empowered to recommend products and properly educate their customers on cannabis and responsible use.
- Producers get to grow the strains they actually want to grow - not just what has the highest THC numbers (could you imagine that?!) - and are finally getting valuable feedback on the products they sell.
With this new path in mind, we created Sensemillier to encapsulate this vision that can revolutionize the global cannabis industry by creating the new standard for cannabis education, product sampling and leadership that will help us to collectively alchemize this industry into the field of flowers and plant-based wisdom we’ve always dreamed of.
Welcome to Sensemillier

So, once again, welcome to Sensemillier, the new premium provider for relevant cannabis education and digital tools that will shape how the industry samples, sells and talks about cannabis.
If the past 6 years of working with and consuming cannabis has told me one thing, it’s that cannabis is the most individualistic drug in the world and that the pursuit of trying to understand this incredibly complex plant is as paradoxical and absurd as navigating the brains that are affected by the cascade of compounds within the plant.
That being said, one of the most fundamental principles of Sensemillier is not to pretend that we’re authorities that can give you definite answers on the intricate effects this plant has on you and how you should use it. Instead, at Sensemillier, we aim to draw in not only the science of cannabis but also the wisdom of neuroscience, mindfulness and philosophy to empower you to create your own individualistic perspective on how to and how not to use this magical plant.
As a result, Sensemillier is set to create a community of certified Sensemilliers, the next generation of thought-leading cannabis experts who will help shape the future of this industry.
Sensemillier will continue to support cannabis businesses and consumers worldwide through our Sensemillier Grading Platform and aims to extend our scope beyond recreational cannabis.
Over the past years, Urbanistic has received phenomenal support and feedback from researchers, doctors, pharmacies, stores, producers, growers, and OG industry experts, which has been an absolute blessing and gives us tremendous hope for our potential impact on the global cannabis industry.
Sensemillier is the result of all of this support and all the hope we gained as we continued through the ups and downs to keep pursuing our passion for cannabis and our dreams for a better industry.
If you’d like to support and work with us, feel free to email us at info@sensemillier.com and check out the Sensemillier Grading platform at www.gradingplatform.com
